March 2018

We have headed on our first long trip!!  This trip will be over two weeks.  We haven't been able to do that in the past due to the having mother living near us.  Now we are headed to Atlanta to see her, but we are enjoying lots of sites on the way!!

We began our trip by heading to Little Rock.  We have been to Little Rock before, so we just stayed overnight and went on our way.  Our first real stop was Memphis!  We stayed in the Graceland RV park.  A great place.  We enjoyed our visit there so much.

Our first stop was to the National Civil Rights Museum.  It was a wonderful museum and we both enjoyed seeing many facts about civil rights that we have lived through, but we were really informed about things we didn't remember.  We remember the day Martin Luther King was shot, and the Lorraine Motel was always an infamous spot.  This Museum also showed where the shooter was positioned.  It was a great place to visit.  Don't miss it.

After our visit to the museum, we went to Central Barbecue.  It was fabulous and so yummy.  A must stop spot!!  We had barbecue sandwiches and the most wonderful banana pudding I have ever tasted.!!

The next day we went to Graceland, and that took most of the day!!  It was a must see, but really was not as impressive as other things we have seen.  It was a true pictures of how Elvis lived.  The home was truly let in the 1970's!!  Elvis's grave was also there.  It was interesting that he had been buried somewhere else and was moved to his home.

Our next stop was the Gibson Guitar factory.  What a great stop!!  We saw each step of how a guitar was made.  It was a really wonderful opportunity to see how a guitar is really a work of art.  It was a great stop

The next thing we did was race up to see the ducks at the Peabody.  I have always wanted to see the ducks walking in line to the penthouse.  I couldn't see the ducks very well, but Tom got a great video that I will post.  There were only 5 little ducks, but they walked in order and went to their penthouse on the elevator.  What a silly tradition!!  I loved it.
