March 2018

From Nashville we headed to Asheville, NC.  We drove through the Smokey Mountains as we left Tennessee and headed into North Carolina.  We had a great drive and a nice day to travel.  We parked our motorhome at a camp called Bear Creek RV Resort.  It was up on a hill that overlooked the mountains and we really enjoyed our stay there.

On Saturday evening we set up the motorhome and headed into Asheville.  I had been to Asheville before about 10 years ago, and it really looked different than I remembered it.  It was Saint Patrick's so lots of people were in the street celebrating.
The next day went to the Southwest Appalachian Folk Art Museum.  It was impressive with lots of art that made you want to be more creative.  I think it reinspired Tom to start woodworking again.  We also drove up the Blue Ridge Parkway.  It was a beautiful drive, and we enjoyed our time in the mountains.

After visiting the museum, we met Tom's nephew, Ben, and his wife, Heather, and their precious boys at a brewery outside of Asheville.  We had the nicest visit with them and were so glad to see them in their new city.  Ben is the brewery expert and has passed on his expert ideas to our family.

The next day we went to The Grove Park Inn.  It is a lovely place full of history and overlooks the Blue Ridge Mountains.  We had lovely lunch on the Terrace that overlooked the property and the mountains.  It was a great day.

After leaving The Grove Park Inn we went to tour around Asheville.  The town is beautiful.  Definitely a must see city!!
